Lamaze: A Labor of Love
Comfort Measures, Relaxation, and Breathing
WHAT TO EXPECT
The Lamaze method incorporates controlled breathing to enhance relaxation and decrease perception of pain. It is one of many comfort strategies taught in this class to prepare for an un-medicated labor and delivery. Recommended Prerequisite: Preparing for Delivery.

Learn how to apply techniques for coping with pain in labor and birth.
This class is recommended for couples who plan to deliver without anesthesia. The fee is per couple.

Practice using Lamaze breathing and relaxation and comfort measures.
Implement techniques for you and your support person that were discussed in part two of the Preparing for Delivery class.

Plan to take during your Third Trimester.
Attend class during the last eight to ten weeks of pregnancy and after attending the Preparing for Delivery Class.

Special Instructions:
- Mom and coach should wear comfortable slacks or shorts as you will be on the floor practicing breathing and relaxation techniques. Also, bring a jacket if you chill easily.
- We encourage you to either eat before you come to class or to bring snack food with you to eat during class.
