Ribbon Cutting for Newly Updated First Aid and Lactation Rooms at the State Capitol

Today, Woman’s Hospital President and CEO Rene Ragas along with Louisiana Legislative Women’s Caucus Chair Senator Beth Mizell, Louisiana Senate President Pro Tempore Regina Barrow, the Louisiana Legislative Women’s Caucus and legislative leadership held a ribbon cutting for the newly updated Lactation Room, sitting area and Examination Room within the First Aid Station (Room G200) at the State Capitol.  Woman’s donated new furniture and signage for both rooms that are open to the public and are located on the ground floor in Duval Hall.

“The Caucus was holding a donation drive for various items to outfit the lactation room. One of our team members saw the flyer and knew we could do more to help,” said Ragas. “It was the perfect project for us and aligned with our mission, which is to improve the health of mothers and infants. Having a welcoming and pleasant environment for nursing mothers or anyone who isn’t feeling well is important. The staff was a joy to work with, and we were excited to help breathe new life into all of the rooms.”

“Updating these rooms is something we have wanted to do for quite some time, and when Woman’s told us they wanted to do more than provide the items we had requested, we were thrilled,” said Sen. Mizell. “There are many mothers from legislators to lobbyists to visitors who use the Lactation Room, and I know they are going to be pleased with the new look. Updating the First Aid Room was a bonus, and that is used by everyone. It all turned out fantastic.”

“The new rooms look terrific,” said Sen. Barrow. “This has been a long time in coming, and we definitely had the right team for the job. They went above and beyond.  Woman’s Hospital is a valued member of our community, delivering great health care for moms and babies, and this is no exception.”
