Summary

As a Maternal Fetal Medicine Specialist, Dr. Albert Diket cares for “problem pregnancies”. This can include fetal problems, such as dealing with poor fetal growth or suspicion of a birth defect.
Dr. Diket and his partners routinely assess the following:
Whether the fetus is growing normally
Management of maternal medical conditions for most effect results and safest for the unborn child
Provide guidance on how to monitor the well-being of the fetus
As a “problem pregnancy” physician, Dr. Diket often helps families who suspect a birth defect cope with the outcome. When there is no defect, he takes the time to reassure the mother and her family that all is well. However, if a problem is found, Dr. Diket listens and explains the situation. Many families take comfort in know that a large number of fetal problems are now treatable. This includes the intense care given to extremely premature babies and recent advances in treating birth defects – including those while the baby is born inside the womb.
Dr. Diket feels a strong commitment to providing comfort and education when discussing a poor prognosis for a baby. He understands that many conditions are very complex and is mindful to use the simplest language possible to help the family understand what is wrong with their baby and the recommended treatment plan.
Dr. Diket, along with his partners, is dedicated to guiding and supporting patients and their families through pregnancy.
